Emigration Archive

BO Jeżewski Personal Archive of Polish Emigration — catalogue of biographies, sorted alphabetically by surname.

Bohdan Olgierd Jeżewski (born 1900 in Warsaw, died 1980 in London) published numerous bio-bibliographic works, including "Rocznik Polonii" (Polish Yearbook), vols. 1-7 (1948-1959) and "Poles in the World – Sources for Biography, the 20th Century." In these publications, he drew on his own archive. The aim of the collection was to prepare a comprehensive and objective bio-bibliographic account of Polish emigrants who settled in free countries after World War II. The archive is based on a register of emigrants, organized in the form of files containing obituaries, photographs, and memoirs. B. Jeżewski donated the entire archive to the Polish Library (POSK) in London, which continues to work on it. By 2024, over 40,000 files and over 600 envelopes had been collected. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, this archive is now available to a wider audience.
