Thank you for your donations to the Library.
Such a story!
On Monday, we received an unusual package addressed to the Library. The package included a letter in English, the content of which was of great interest to us and is quoted (translated into Polish) below:
„"In the late 1990s, I bought a framed Tea Bar price list board from a thrift store in Wales. It hung in my kitchen until last month, when I started moving. While moving furniture, the board fell and the frame was damaged.
And then I discovered that hidden inside – on the other side of the price list – were photographs I hadn't known about before. I suspect they depict Polish soldiers. I thought you might be interested; perhaps you could identify the people depicted in them and find their relatives? I'm not interested in returning this item. Best regards, Miranda J.”
The POSK Polish Library in London is a place where, in addition to books and periodicals, archives of Polish emigrants are also kept, including photographs, correspondence, typescripts and manuscripts of Polish writers, journalists and artists.
We are grateful for your donations – each one is extremely valuable as it is a testament to the life and work of the Polish community in Great Britain, and the POSK Polish Library in London preserves them for researchers and future generations.
